Summer jobs are great. You can earn money without getting in the way of your studies and then go crazy at the end of summer and spend hundreds on a girls/lads holiday! Okay, maybe you shouldn’t do that, but summer jobs are a great way to rack up lots of money which is great when you are a student and don’t have time to work alongside your studies. In this article, I thought it would be useful to put together some reasons why summer jobs are great and where you can apply for summer jobs.
Money, money, money

Of course, one of the many benefits of a summer job is the money you earn! During summer you also have fewer commitments meaning you can work longer hours, allowing you to earn even more money.
However, it is important that you actually save some money. It is so tempting to go crazy on your first paycheck on a wild night out (when we are allowed) but you need to get into the habit of putting a percentage of your paycheck away into a savings pot and start investing for retirement in your 20s. I can speak from experience when I got my first job I would go crazy every time I got paid and spend every penny on clothes. I then got to university and realized I had no money, but enough clothes to clothe my whole friendship group for months.
Skills
Summer jobs are also a great opportunity to gain a variety of soft skills. For example, time management, organization, leadership, teamwork, and communication. These are just a handful of the skills you will learn whilst working a summer job, these skills will look great on your CV when applying to jobs in the future. Recruiters always look for a variety of soft skills when recruiting future employees.
Friends

Summer jobs are also a great opportunity to make new friends. You will be putting yourself in a situation where you are unlikely to know anyone on your first day, this is great! And an amazing opportunity to expand your friendship network.
Build Confidence
One of the best ways to build confidence is to put yourself in unfamiliar situations, and learning how to adapt to them and thrive. Summer jobs are therefore a great way to help you build confidence, you will throw yourself into a new job role with new colleagues.
Networking
You never know when a summer job might lead to something bigger. You might find that you love your summer job so much and want to stay within the company, whether this is balancing it alongside your studies or joining the company again once you have graduated, or even come back to the company in a few years in a managerial position. The opportunities are endless.
Go Abroad

When you think of a summer job you might automatically think of working at a campsite or a supermarket, despite these being great jobs you can even go the extra mile and work abroad! Why not do two in one, get your holiday and also earn money!
One great summer job is Camp America, you will develop so many skills during your summer there as well as creating hundreds of memories, new friends and having one of the best summers!
