Oh, sweet velvet; the passionate love affair of royalty and glam rock. Fashionistas all over the world are already lusting for this amazing trend that has shined on the runways with models of Moschino, Emilio Pucci, Tods, Just Cavalli, and many more. These designers showcased velvet in all its glory. We have seen many shapes and forms, from modern pants suit to fitted frocks. You will surely fall in love in this fall trend of softness that will caress your skin. Who knows, maybe you leave the house one day in head-to-toe velvet? Now, let us dive into its tenderness and find out what the designers are recommending and what will we wear.

Colors Of The Might

We have already mentioned that velvet is a royal fabric, than we might as well call it a mighty fabric. Still, not all of its colors are equally mighty. Designers have spoken, and who are we to disagree? This royal fabric will be colored with burgundy, inky shades of noir, navy, grey, red, dark green, purple, with occasional pastel accents. You can combine different colors of velvet, but if you are not yet sure, than try sporting just one solid color piece with ordinary skirt, pants or shirt.

A Queen Wants – A Queen Gets

We are, of course, talking about must-have velvet pieces (no decapitating involved). The absolute favorite for your wardrobe renovation is a velvet blazer. That is an eternal classic that will look cool no matter the trends. Speaking of classic, make sure you have one black, and only then move on to green, burgundy, and navy. The next pieces to yearn for are a pencil skirt and a maxi winter-loving dress. Since this trend already runs deep in the veins of the web, you will not have any troubles finding women’s velvet dresses online. After you are done with these essentials and if you still feel the velvet fever burning inside you, acquire a pair of pants, a tuxedo jacket, a coat, a mini a-line skirt and a mini dress.

Velvet Devil In The Details

If you do not have the boldness, but your inner fashionista is telling you to try, then begin with baby steps and accessorize with this lovely fabric. Start with a bag. The velvet will give it a vintage appeal, and there is nothing more modern than a vintage purse. Sandals are a great way to wear this style, because they will add up to the femininity of the outfit. If you choose a bold color, they can be true statement footwear. For a breath of Parisian lady’s “je ne sais qui” sport an adorable fall floppy felt hat. Add a little drama-queen touch with a cozy warm scarf.

What Is Worthy Of Royalty?

The big question is: What materials can you combine with velvet? You thought there was an answer following it. Sorry to disappoint you ladies. The truth is that designers have left it to our imagination and we will leave it to yours. Do not worry. You will get a couple of hints. As mentioned, velvet is loved by glam rockers all over the world, so leather is never a bad choice. Knitted pieces will work great with velvet, as they both are cozy and warm. A pair of jeans would look ideal with your new velvet blazer and silky shirts will match its refines perfectly. The rest is up to you.

When you think about it for a second, there is nothing there not to like: polished look with a tad of decadence, seductive 70s rebelliousness, rock ‘n’ roll’s opulent glamour and a touch of vintage. We are all for yey, how about you?
