So it happened – you’re engaged and the two of you will soon be married. This means that over the course of several months that are before you, you will have to deal with venues, menus, music, dresses, invitations, and rehearsals. As if that is not stressful enough, you will probably wish to lose some weight too so you can look great in your wedding dress. There is no need to panic, if you start on time with a couple of easy tips you can get your dream body in time for your big day.
Forget about the quick fixes
Even though it is more than tempting to try out some super-fast and ‘incredibly effective’ diet, don’t do it. If you reach for these fast solutions your weight will be a mess because whenever you lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, it comes back soon. Thus, you will spend more time despairing than actually losing weight, and it is ten times more effective to change your diet completely more than six months prior to your wedding instead. This way you will lose weight but in a healthy way which means that you will be less likely to put the old weight back on.
Start working out
Workout is incredibly useful for several reasons: it will help you get rid of all that stress and tension that inevitably follows wedding preparations, and it will help you get in shape. The best thing is that you don’t need to sweat in the gym like crazy. Instead, you can start out slowly by going for a walk every evening or morning, and slowly increasing the tempo. After a couple of weeks you can join the gym and ask a professional trainer to help you work on your problem areas (legs, stomach, arms, etc). You will start off slowly and work your way up until you get your dream body in time for your big day.
Be realistic
All of us are different: we have different body shapes, types, different metabolisms and genetics. It is impossible for us all to look alike without reaching for cosmetic surgery, but that is a bit extreme. Instead of dreaming of having an hourglass figure when you have clear ‘apple’ body type, focus on developing the good traits you already have. Get to know your body type because that is the body you were born with and which will stay with you through thick and thin. Your body type depends on the way muscles and fat are distributed on your body, but also on your skeletal structure. Get to know your body, learn what looks good on you, and work hard to emphasize what you already have.
Opt for healthy snacks
Snacks are always present in our lives, and whether we like it or not, they are not always healthy. Chips, chocolate, candy bars, and fast food may taste good, but they are not good for your body. Instead of steering clear of snacks altogether, find a healthy alternative. Take fresh apples and dip them in raw honey, don’t put butter on your popcorn, make healthy pancakes out of bananas and eggs, and instead of plain milk chocolate use dark one. All this will satisfy your cravings for snacks but it will do you more good than any candy bar.
Keep in mind that you your wedding day should be the happiest one for both of you, yet that will not be the case if you are under constant stress. Try to remember that the reason all of you are going to be there is to celebrate the great love your partner and you have for each other.
