Today we are introducing Kim Petersen, a lifestyle blogger with a degree in English and Anthropology. She knows what a lady needs and she loves having new adventures. Let’s consider this post as one of those adventures. So without further ado, enjoy the reading.
As any skincare fanatic knows, it’s important to use quality products on your skin, so what better way to do that than to make your own? These masks are made with ingredients so natural and good for you that you could eat them, literally. Not only are these great for your skin, they’re also super quick and easy so spa night can really be about relaxing.
If you have oily skin this mask is for you. Avocado reduces wrinkles while maintaining moisture, which you still need even with oily skin. The acid in lemon juice is a natural face toner and helps balance oil and egg white is a natural astringent which helps shrink pores.
You’ll need:
1/2 avocado
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg white.
Mix all ingredients on your face, lather on and leave for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and viola, brighter looking skin that’s less oily.
If you have dry skin you’ll want to make sure you add a super moisturizing ingredient, like honey, to your mask. Not only is honey naturally antibacterial which helps acne prone skin, but it’s one of the most moisturizing natural ingredients out there. Add in some yogurt which reduces fine lines and is a natural exfoliant (lactic acid helps desolve dead skin cells) and strawberries which is anti-aging and contains uv protection.
You’ll need:
1/2 cup yogurt
2 tbsp honey
2 strawberries
Either puree strawberries before hand or add all ingredients to a blender. Mix together and apply to clean face. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse with warm water. Your face will feel completely hydrated.
If you’ve got sensitive skin it can be hard to find an over-the-counter mask that won’t irritate your skin. Luckily, the answer to your skin care prayers is right in your pantry. Oats act as an anti-inflammatory which is great for sensitive skin. Bananas protect your skin from free radicals and nutmeg has been known to heal scars from acne to sunspots.
You’ll need:
1/2 banana
1/3 cup of oats
1 tsp nutmeg
If you’re feeling the heat you can add 1/2 frozen banana and blend all the ingredients together. This makes one nice cooling mask for those summer months and the consistency will be much more like a store bought mask. Otherwise mash all the ingredients together, apply to face and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and your face will feel refreshed and won’t be irritated.
Any of these ingredients can be mixed and matched to create your own mask specific to your own skin care needs.
