If you fancy yourself being a gourmet taste, then it is time to move out of your comfort zone and search for food which might seem bizarre and unsettling at first, but might be the best thing you have tested in your life. Remember that looks can be deceiving.
Moreover, although it might seem strange that other cultures prepare delicacies out of food you could never think to stomach, to those cultures it was perhaps a means of survival. Nevertheless, for an adventure of tastes and new experience, it is at least worthy to try a bite.
A wondrous wine?
In many parts of Asia, it is believed that snake wine has healing properties, either by mixing blood or snake fluids commonly with rice wine; or by fermenting a whole snake in the wine.

How to defeat arachnophobia?
Many are afraid of spiders as small crawlers in the night, but when you have to face them as big as your fist, then it the right time to shriek. Unless they are fried spiders of course, then you are safe and you can also get a taste of Cambodian delicacy. Be aware that they have a somewhat acquired taste though.
Rotten shark
Hákarl is an Icelandic national delicacy that many will frown upon because of its preparation method and of the extremely acquired taste. It is also called the rotten shark as it is left to ferment in its own liquids in a hole dug in the ground. It is usually consumed with a strong Icelandic spirit to mask the taste.
Insect caviar
Mexicans have a refined taste for food made from plants and insects around them, and Escamoles is one of those things. If you think you can stomach ant larvae from the Agave plant, then you might have found a delicacy to nibble on when you feel peckish.

However, being priced as the most expensive coffee, it should really taste good.
The wonderful world of tastes
There are many more delicacies around the world which look and sometimes taste equally bad as well, but an adventure is all about exploring and trying new things. And in the end you might end up finding something that truly clings to your taste buds. However, always make sure that what you are trying is not poisonous and that it is well-prepared by professionals, in order to avoid any accidents.
Trying different foods will certainly require a strong stomach, but you will have the unique chance to really experience a different culture for what it is, and also you will have a chance to experience really tasty and rich delicacies from around the world.
