Hair fall can be a rather scary experience. When my hair first started falling after a year of abuse by straightening and colouring, I was terrified that I was going bald. Turns out, I was not.
Hair fall is quite common amongst women, but everyone goes through the ordeal for different reasons. For some, it is the stress that makes their hair fall while for others, it is poor hair care or uncontrollable hormonal changes. Whatever the reason may be, there is always a solution.
There are plenty of treatments available in the market, but I always prefer to stick with tried and tested home remedies. When it comes to combatting hair fall, these five recipes are your saviours!
Onion Juice
It may sound nasty at first, but onion juice is a great potion for curing pesky hair fall. Why, you ask? Onions are absolutely loaded with sulphur, which stimulates hair growth by upping the production of collagen. All you have to do is chop up an onion and squeeze out the juice. Apply this to your scalp for about ten minutes and then wash your hair as normal. I would recommend using this treatment twice a week for quick, noticeable results.
Egg
Like onion, egg is also packed with sulphur. It also comes with a punch of iodine, zinc, selenium and protein, which promote hair growth. To make egg work for you, mix one egg white with a tablespoon of olive oil and whisk it until it becomes a paste. Apply this paste to your scalp, let it settle for about twenty minutes and then wash your tresses as normal.
Aloe Vera
Ladies, aloe vera gel is the world’s best-kept secret! Not only does it work wonders for skin care problems; it also does a great job of stopping hair fall quite quickly. Massage the gel into your scalp and allow it to soak in for a couple of hours. Once you are done, wash it off with warm water. Aloe vera juice works equally well, too.
Hair Oil
The key to stopping hair fall is to strengthen your hair from root to tip and hair oil is one of the best ways to do it. Chances are that most of us have a bottle of this good stuff lying around the house and now is the ideal time to bring it out. Coconut, almond and olive oil are the best choices. Simply warm up as much oil as you need and massage it into your scalp. Repeat this ritual at least twice a week for stronger and shiner hair.
Fenugreek
Apart from being a super food, fenugreek has immense power when it comes to stopping hair fall. Soak a handful of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water overnight (or for eight hours) and in the morning, blend the mixture into a paste. Apply the paste to your hair and scalp, and allow it to settle for about three hours before you wash it off. Finish your hair wash off with a cold rinse for the best results.
