Fashion week shows are a big thing, when it comes to stylishness, but the catwalk isn’t the only place where fashion is happening. There are enough of notable fashionable moments on the streets to make a fashion week of them only. All those ladies with tremendous passion for fashion have shown us how to look like you’re on the runway, while simply strolling on the sidewalk. Read on to learn what you should pick up from these stunning ladies and who do we pronounce the winner of the street style.
Paint it black
Urban fashion gals know that black is the new black, and they go beyond the little black dress. The street catwalkers are coming to the dark side big time. Black skinny pants, oversized sweater and a structured black bag is one of the ways they wore this classic color. Black PVC skirts, the elusive black leather jacket, long dark coat, midi skirt, and basically whatever you can think of, if it’s black it’s trendy.
Mix it up
Mix your patterns and look as fabulous as the ladies of the fashion week. You can pull that off with a little confidence. The trick is to believe you look fabulous, and everyone else will too. Many of FW-goers showed up to the shows in stunning patterned ensembles. Recreate some of the looks, by combining a floral blouse with stripped pants.
The almighty jeans
The best invention of mankind (at least when it comes to fashion) hasn’t failed us this time either. Fashion girls have worn it in many different ways, and the ones we found the most interesting are oversized jeans bags, that 70’s light blue denim jacket, never out of fashion skinny jeans with high stiletto heels, an 80’s inspired high-waisted pair of jeans, and in spite of all the skinny jeans, a couple pairs of lifesaving “mom jeans”, still fashionable.
And the winner is…
Well, who knows fashion better than a fashion blogger? And that’s why we choose Danish It girl when it comes to fashion, Pernille Teisbaek. She has a great talent of mixing up retro silhouettes, utilitarian staples with striking accessories, and she used that talent well on fashion weeks throughout the world. We’ve seen her rocking the PVC blue pants with suspenders with a gray sweater and blue boots on London fashion week. But there is more, she is chosen as our winner not only based on that one look. She made us say “WOW!” on day 5 of the Paris fashion week, in a black skirt with fringes to the floor, white turtleneck underneath a black sweater topped with a black leather jacket and in white sneakers. Bravo, Pernille, bravo! And we must mention another Paris piece that she was wearing that simply blew us away. We’re talking about black silk-blend mini dress, blue Chanel bag and Chloe Peep black toe shoes.
She has really set the bar high for all the other ladies at the fashion shows, but they had no trouble in catching up either. Some other names have entered to our shortlist, among them, Miroslava Duma, Anna Dello Russo, Barbara Martello, Dakota Johnson, Josephine Skriver and Aimee Song.
