Wearing makeup during the summer months can be uncomfortable. It melts on our face as we sweat, and it doesn’t last long. Well, this summer it doesn’t have to be this way, because with these tips and tricks, you will have perfect makeup even during summer days.
Use fewer products
Heavy foundations that look cakey are not a good choice for the summer as they can clog your pores and feel uncomfortable in the heat. A good option you can use instead are tinted moisturizes or foundations with light coverage. They will even out the complexity of your skin, and cover any redness, or discoloration you may have, but at the same time leave your skin looking healthy, fresh, and natural.
Try using concealer instead of foundation
Once upon a time, we knew exactly what product was for what use, but now you can use blush as eyeshadow, and lipstick as blush. So, why not use concealer as foundation? Firstly, choose the right formula and shade for your skin type. Moisturize your face, and then move on to the concealer. The key is to put it on the troubled areas on your skin. Those would be the undereye area, any blemishes you might have, and if you want to highlight your face a bit, the center of your forehead, chin and above your lip. This will cover any imperfections, and also give some dimension to your face.
Mixing primer with foundation
As we already know, primers are supposed to make your makeup stay longer on your face, and they provide you with a base that makes everything glide on easier. That is why they are your perfect companion for summer days. To get a more natural, summer look, you can mix it with foundation and apply it together. It will seal in the foundation, making it last throughout the day, but still look fresh, and soft. Depending on your skin type, you can get matte or translucent primers as well as foundations.
Mixing moisturizer with foundation
Again, if what you like during summer is light coverage, try mixing moisturizer with foundation. It will make it glide, and blend easier, and will not create a mask and look heavy on your face. You can use a whole pump of the foundation with just a bit of moisturizer and achieve a glamorous look. This is also a good tip if you want to lighten your foundation, but don’t like mixing more than one.
Always use sunblock
To keep your skin healthy during summer months, sunblock is a must. An SPF 30 is enough to protect your skin, and you should wear it every day. You should use sunscreen under your makeup, even if the makeup product has SPF in it. This way, you will make sure you have covered your whole face because sometimes we apply foundation unevenly. Also, even if your makeup products have SPF in them, that is not their primary focus, so just in case, apply your regular sunscreen beforehand.
Blotting papers instead of powders
There is nothing worse than your skin looking cakey and layered. That is why during summer months, to keep it light and natural, instead of powders, you can use blotting papers. They will remove the excess oiliness off your skin whenever you use them, but will not remove the makeup underneath. Another plus is that they are easy to use, and you can pack them with you anywhere you go.
Bronzer & blush tips
Nothing says summer more than a beautiful bronzer and blush. Even if you are tanned, it gives your face that natural sun-kissed look. For the best results, apply bronzer right underneath your cheekbones, and sides of your forehead. Bring a blush to the top of your cheeks, and also a bit on the nose, because that is where the sun would naturally hit you, so it will make you look natural and radiant.
Permanent makeup for long-lasting results
There is a whole spectre of permanent and semi-permanent makeup procedures made to enhance your natural beauty and replace almost any of makeup products you might need. Instead of being constantly worried about ruining your makeup in hot summer days, try microblading eyebrows or some of its spinoffs. Also, go for lash lift for extra curled and lengthy lashes for 3 weeks straight, or give your lips some natural blush and volume boost with permanent lipstick treatment. It’s long-lasting, not affected by water or sweat, and it saves your time and money!
Summer makeup is all about natural looks, so hopefully, these tips and tricks were able to teach you how you can use products to achieve the perfect summer look.
